Uttoxeter is a thriving market town on the Staffordshire & Derbyshire border, with a charter dating from 1252 and has recently seen many new and exciting developments. The birthplace of Joseph Cyril Bamford, creator of the JCB empire, who started business in a small garage in the town centre. The most famous event to have occured is the penance of Samuel Johnson and is commemorated with the Johnson Memorial, which stands in the market place. Located centrally, Uttoxeter is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside and large number of world renown attractions.

Uttoxeter Racecourse is one of its most famous landmarks, offering fantastic racing and many other events to entertain everybody and is situated a 5 minute walk away.
Dovefield's Retail and Leisure Park includes many shops and food outlet's, and is home to Uttoxeter Cinebowl, a Bowling Alley and Cinema providing excellent family entertainment.
The Heritage Centre is housed in a row of 17th Century timber framed cottages. Take a look at the town's history, visit the gift shop and relax in the courtyard garden.
The Staffordshire Way spans the length of the county, starting among the hills on the edge of the Peak Distict National Park, the routes explore stunning rural countryside as well as linking country parks, picnic places and many towns and villages.
