Uttoxeter is a thriving market town on the Staffordshire & Derbyshire border, with a charter dating from 1252 and has recently seen many new and exciting developments. The birthplace of Joseph Cyril Bamford, creator of the JCB empire, who started business in a small garage in the town centre. The most famous event to have occured is the penance of Samuel Johnson and is commemorated with the Johnson Memorial, which stands in the market place. The Staffordshire Way spans the length of the county, starting among the hills on the edge of the Peak Distict National Park, the routes explore stunning rural countryside as well as linking country parks, picnic places and many towns and villages.
Uttoxeter Railway Station is located just a five minute walk away, offering excellent transport links.
